Early start to get to the North Lakes and have quick ascent of Blencathra via Scale's Fell. The weather was beautiful when we left Swaledale and by the time we got to the firing ranges at Warcop it was thick cloud and drizzle.. We thought how may times have we done this, but carried on only to be greeted by alpine blue skies as we pulled into the layby above Threlkeld - and it was warm, very warm. Had a slow plod up to the top viewing Sharp Edge with a wary eye thinking we must do that again this year and eventually topping out after a little snow patch. Cloud inversions all round, in the Langdales and over to the Scafell group. The crowds started to gather, nice to chat to people, found a sheltered spot and had our sarnies and a bit of cake with a nice hot flask of coffee before heading back down and home to Swaledale for a few pints in The Bridge. Houseman arrived later, revealing his legs for the first time this year - say no more!
